hops up ya gravity?

just done a couple of coopers euro on the spin both identical apart from one was made up with the addition of saaz hops (t bag),got a sg of 1046.the one without got a sg of 1042..can 12g of hops up the gravity...surely not?

You're right, hops don't add gravity to a brew.

The most likely explanation is that you did something differently apart from adding hops - maybe got more of the concentrate out of the tin on the hoppy one, or the total volume of the wort was a bit less? I suppose variation in the kits themselves is possible.

thanks for the replies,i probably did something slightly different,which makes me wonder how breweries get identical brews time after time or do they get it wrong sometimes..
