Great idea droop.

Don't forget to include the tin opener.

yeah i'm pretty meticulous about sanitizing stuff... like you say tin opener, scissors... anything I'm doing to make up my brew.. I even soak the Malt tins in hot water and sanitizer before rinsing them under the hot tap to open (probably comes from 5 years of being an industrial microbiologist looking after hygiene on a pharmacutical plant) lol

Fingers crossed no infections yet! [-o<

But definately a good tip for new bewers if you are going to use it sanitize it! Its the biggest risk for infection during making it up.

I don't usually worry about the work top... but then as my SWMBO always points out I spill enough of the cleaning solution around the place anyhow! :D

that is amazing sterilization, I've not been nearly so thorough.
I've obviously been dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight.
I just staerilise the FV,the lid, spoon and hydrometer. Oh, and my hands.
not even considered the can opener, scissors etc.
I haven't had any problems tho' so far, no harm in throwing my scissors and opener into the solution from now on tho'. hopefully i'll never lose a batch!
cheers for the heads up.

To be honest I probably go over the top but as you say I figure no harm in throwing the can opener and scissors to soak in the FV with the hydrometer and air lock. I'd be interested to find out what some of the more experienced brewers on here do?
As I come at it from probably the extreme cleaning side, it takes me longer to santize everything than make up my brew!

A check list is exactly what I have, and like you, I steralise absolutely everything in site. Sadly, it hasn't stopped my Fixby Gold from tasting like nothing on earth!!
