I saw the pictures from Jims pictures on how to prime a barell. He mentions gelatine where do I get it from? Is it readliy available in supermarkets or is it specially sold in homnebrew shops, Many thanks David

Haven't used gelatine for a long while but it I always used to buy it from the supermarket.

Whorst is yer man for gelatine! He'll be along shortly.....

But anyway......yes, you can buy it in the supermarket. It's about £1 for 5 leaves in my local Stainsbury.

Or 60p from Morrissons.......Got my method from Aleman.......Dissolve one sachet in 200mls of hot (not boiling) water in a pan and stir....when dissolved add 300mls of beer and stir gently, then rack onto this in either secondary FV or keg. Works very well and clears fast.

Will this work with lager and still give it its secondary ferment to create carbarnation?

I used gelatine in my last brew, and it was crystal clear in a matter of day's. Unfortunately i didnt realise it formed such an unstable sediment a so my bottled beer is perfectly clear until i pour it. The sediment is very clumpy though so if you leave it a few minutes in the glass the worst of it will settle.
I did put 10 litre's if this brew in a polypin so hopefully that will work better.
