Finnings, when?

Post by Sunray11A » Fri May 01, 2009 10:00 am

I've not used finnings before so, would someone please let me know at what stage I should add them to a Pilsner brew? I'm guessing it should be when primamy fermentation is complete, if it ever is, & before syphoning into a barrel. :?:

Cheers!

Hi Sunray, I sometimes use finnings and I add them to the fermenter about a day or so before racking into my keg.

I use a sachet of gelatine dissolved in some boiled (not boiling) water and pour it direct into the fermenter

If you get Harris Beer Brite the instructions are on the packet. Add to barrell at point of filling, add to f.v the day before you bottle.

Folks, many thanks. I wasn't too far off the mark but, your advice has made it much clearer. I appreciate it.

Might be an idea to use them, on your Nelson's revenge, mine hasd been in the barrell 3 weeks and it's still cloudy (didn't use finings, wish I had)

I'll do that little thing, but only because you suggested it. :)
