Brewferm Kit help

Post by mgb9 » Sun May 03, 2009 6:18 pm

Hi,

I've a Brewferm Diablo and a Framboos kit on the go, both have had just over 14 days of fermentation time. The Diablo is reading approx 1.012 and should be 1.010 before bottling and the Framboos is about 1.013 on the hydrometer, again should be 1.010. The FG has been fairly stable, decreasing slightly in both kits sicne i last tested on thursday 31st april. My question is should I bottle them both tomorrow as my next chance to bottle them will be next weekend? will hanging on for another week make any difference?

thanks

I shouldnt worry too much about what the FG is supposed to be. I bottled my Diabolo after 12 days and a couple of days steady at 1014 which I was pleased with. 14 days in the FV and 1012 is about as low as its going to go I`d say.

Yep I'd agree, then sit on your hands for six weeks and let it mature, this one really does taste better with age.

Cheers

thanks, first time bottling, get a bit worried about the warnings on the hydrometer about not bottling unless the FG is at 1.06, im sure ill learn with experience.

From my limited experience and what I have read here and on other sites few kits get much below 1.010, the only kits I have had that do with any regularity are Coopers. Generally if my brews appear to have stopped fermenting and I get 2-3 days of consistent FG that is below 1014 then it's time to bottle, anything above that and I'll try to get them going first before making call as to whether to bottle or repitch.

hi, yep i would definitely bottle it, its close enough, in fact its lower than the Brewferm Abdji that i did and that turned out to be a cracking drink!

I'd be interested to hear what you think of the Raspberry beer, theyve had quite a bit of bad press on the fruit beers so i wonder if Brewferm have sorted it out since?

Lerrus know how you get on, itll be ready just in time for summer, nice one !

cheers!

i brewed the kriek in november and it's brilliant, needs a long long conditioning time but it's really worth it.

Forgot to ask, what was the bad press with the fruit beers? I assume that they taste bad.
