Hi All,
Was thinking of dry hopping my next brew - Coopers IPA, and was wondering if anyine had done this before and could suggest whuch hops might be best - an aroma hop, or a bittering hop?
Also would I be best racking to secondary, before doing this or would I get away with just chucking them in the primary after a few days?
Cheers,
Louis
Dry Hopping
Re: Dry Hopping
I usually dry hop in the serving keg, I use about 10-20g in a 6cm stainless steel teaball, makes it easier later on and the hops don't clog the taps/diptube
they can be had on eBay for about £3 each

See him and his shiny stainless balls...!!Garth wrote:I use about 10-20g in a 6cm stainless steel teaball, makes it easier later on and the hops don't clog the taps/diptube

I bought 3 of 'em off ebay too but I've not use them yet.
Re: Dry Hopping
thanks guys,
I was thinking of using a muslim cloth bag to hold the hops in I presume this would do the same job as one of the shiny balls
Also how long would you dry hop for? would 5 days to a week be enough?

You can only add aroma with dry hopping.Dangerlouis wrote:Was thinking of dry hopping my next brew - Coopers IPA, and was wondering if anyine had done this before and could suggest whuch hops might be best - an aroma hop, or a bittering hop?
