Past its best

Hi Guys,

Its been a while since i posted as i can't get on at work (Where i have most of my spare time  )

I've had a couple of pints of my honley mild the past few days after a couple of weeks of none, as i was trying to make it last till i get a nother brew on the go. It doesn't taste as good as it did, its not bad or off just not quite as nice as it was.

I haven't had any luck looking back through the archives looking for my posts when i kegged it but how long would would you expect to keep a brew once kegged??

As a general guide only, it should slowly improve up to 6 months then slowly deteriorate after that in a pressure barrel.

However, there may be other things to consider, was the keg stored in direct sunlight or too high a temperature?

Hope your brew is not so bad that you can't enjoy it.

IRM, I've just asked the same question. My nelsons revenge went bad for the last 2 pints after only 4 weeks in the corny, with no good reason why.

I'll search for the link. I've got 4 cornies untouched and full at the mo...it would be devastating to tap them and find they were bad

Here it is.

I think Jim's comment is particularly observable

Thanks guys,

I may have introduced a bit of O2 while i was racking to corny!
I used some large bore syphon tubing and it took just a couple of minutes total to fill the corny

Its not to bad infact if thats how my beer turned out in the first place i would have been more than happy, its just the beer was so GOOD i have noticed a drop in quality.

I think i will increase my consumption, there is no point in making it last if its going off, is there? :D
