coopers stout yeast

Post by brewjohn » Fri May 15, 2009 10:08 am

First time I have made up a can of Coopers stout and am amazed at the yeast. It should carry a public health warning !! Its climbing out of the FV and walking all over my garage floor at night ! Seriously it is a vigorous fermenter and wondered if any one has used this yeast with any other type of beer. is it the same yeast supplied with other Coopers cans ?

Yeppers, we're, many of us, well enough accustomed to the Legendary powers of a drop of Coopers yeast. Cracker, isn't it? Does what it says on the can ~ Then some! :D

Regards their other kits? I couldn't personally say as I'm yet to venture out there. I'd guess though that they use a different yeast in their Lager? I think most people would. I believe Lagers prefer a different type, see? Can't really see why they'd use different in their ales though. I wonder how their other stuff performs, under the influence?

Well I have done Coopers Dark, IPA, Pale Ale and stout and have a Coopers European larger on the go. The stout is the only one that tries to escape, dark gives up when it reaches the lid of the fv, both ales had a healthy but not over exuberant foam and the lager is positively pedestrian it just gently ticks over with just a light froth.

Cheers

I'm watching a Coopers dark ale filling the bin bag the F.V. is standing in right now. The Coopers bitter I did last week also frothed over but nothing like with the stout and dark ale. All brewed with 1kg of DME.

Think I will stick with S04 for bitter and not try the coopers stout one ,just use that for the stout.
