Wherry Keg

Post by welshbrew83 » Sat Jun 06, 2009 5:28 pm

Hi

Just transferred my very first batch of wherrys to the keg. OG was 1040 and FG was 1009, stable over 3 days. Primed the keg with Glucose and all wrapped up for a week. How long roughly should this take to clear and be drinkable? It is still very cloudy at the moment but no sweet taste or unpleasant flavours. :D

Cheers

Minimum 4 weeks but a lot better after 6-8 weeks. By 12 weeks it's like nectar.

thanks lillywhite. My KKTT has a Dalex Tap fitted to it with flow control etc, however the flow is really low and the beer is pretty flat. SHould this get better in time or is my beer doomed? Dont want to have to throw away my first ever brew! :?

Thanks

To be honest you can drink the wherry after about two weeks but as lillywhite says the longer the better. After a month or two it goes from being a good pint to an outstanding one...

I wouldn't worry just yet it will take a while for the carbonation to start and it won't really get in to the beer until after a week or so when you put it somewhere a bit cooler! So don't panic... just patience... :D

If you find after a couple of weeks there is still not pressure in the keg give it a blast of CO2 the put it somehwere cool.. you'll know if its got spoilt you won't be able to drink it! You will be fine though!
