Quick bottling advice.

Post by psd123 » Wed Jul 08, 2009 12:47 pm

Hi,

Have been chatting with a couple of guys at work about brewing and bottling and was complaining about the length of time it takes me to sterilise and rinse my bottles, both said they did not rinse bottles out only leave in V.W.P. for about 10 minutes, this is the same stuff i use but thought i had read that it needed to be rinsed out after soaking?

Yes, VWP is also a cleaner so I wouldn't want to leave any inside. When I used VWP I rinsed the inside but not the outside and when they dried they were covered in a fine powder - I doubt it would do you harm, it might affect the taste but I do not want to drink it.

I now use 1.25ml of Videne per litre of water and use that as a no rinse solution. It apparently has a contact time on 30 seconds so I can do all the bottles in the sink.

I don't bother with any cleaners, just give the bottles a wash when I finish them and rinse them through in warm water just before bottling. I've botled many kits and have'nt had a bad one yet. Think of the time you could save, better spent drinking the stuff surely!

It takes less time to clean and rinse a bottle properly, than it does to drink it. Why risk it.
