Liquid Malt - Heat Distortion

I am planning to have a go at a Brewers Choice kit next and have been doing some reading about the choices. I would be going for either 2 - Spraymalt or 3 - Liquid Malt Extract

However, I was reading the other day that the heat used to reduce and concentrate the Liquid produced a flavour distortion and that DME does not suffer from this proplem - is this true.

If so I think I might do my Brewer's Choice as a dry kit and see - any comments?
