Brewferm Diabolo - gravity question

Post by BeerGuts » Tue Sep 15, 2009 1:04 pm

I'm doing a Brewferm Diabolo at the moment. The kit instructions say stop the first ferment at 1010 then do the second. If I want to go for bottling, am I better off just letting it ferment all the way off then sugaring the bottles? Will this affect the flavour?

Cheers.

I let my go all the way no problem, it's now 6-7 months old and tastes great.

Cheers

Mogwyth, I made mine as follows:

1. Allow the SG to fall as far as it will.
2. Mix the sugar with 100ml of boiled/cooled water.
3. Put the sugar solution into a second FV.
4. Syphon the beer into the second FV.
5. Bottle immediately.

The gravity seems to have stopped at 1016. Should I do the 2nd ferment anyway?

Cheers.

I bottled my brewferm abbey at 1017 (instructions say 1010 like diablo) after 10 days - 3 plus months later its a cracking drink. Although I did not overly fill the bottles in case the priming compromised the structural integrity of me bottles! [-o<

Ha Ha, yes, I see your point! I think I'll just bottle it after mixing in the secondard sugar. I'll leave a little extra space too.

Cheers!
