First post - first brew - speedy start !

Hi all, New brewer here - never done one before and just starting out.

Started my first brew today - Muntons Old Conkerwood, all cleaned and sterilised gear, and made up the kit as per the vague instructions on the box, with the exception of using S - 04 yeast.

Steadied the brew at 21 degrees (aquarium heater) and also rehydrated the yeast for 30 minutes before adding it.
OG before yeast addition was 1049 (looked like 1051 on the hydrometer but I took a bit off to allow for it creeping up the glass)

This was at 5pm today, 6 hours later it's a great meringue head and going crazy !

Are things happening too fast ?

I thought it was going to be a good 24 hours before anything happened, I plan on leaving it to its own devices until the weekend at the earliest before having a peek again.

All is good that's normal. Don't panic. It's exciting business isn't it. :D

It sounds like it's going perfectly - sit back and smile!

..the hardest thing about brewing is patience :)
