priming?

hi all, should the priming sugar be added to the empty bottles before filling or after the bottles are filled just before capping or will it make no difference?

For best results draw off some beer from the fermenter, add all of the sugar and heat to boiling then cool in an ice bath back to room temperature then mix this gently back into the beer. Better control and all bottles will come out with the same carbonation. Otherwise sugar in the bottle first.

Because none of my FVs have taps, I boil 150ml of water and add the sugar until dissolved. This then goes into my sanitised barrel which has a bottle wand attached and the beer is racked into the barrel with an auto syphon which mixes it for me. Probably not quite as good a method as mightymouth said (as you are adding a little extra water) but it is really easy and the water addition is minimal.
