Which Coopers Stout?

Post by Breezy » Tue Oct 27, 2009 2:32 pm

Planning on doing my first kit of the fabled brew!

I've just discovered that there are two kits: one seemingly the normal version and another "Brewmaster" version. There's not a huge difference in price - about a £ or two.

Has anyone got any experience of what the difference is? Is one better that t'other?

Just want to make sure I buy the correct one.

Thanks!

Hello,

I'm not sure which Coopers Stout you should get but I went to my local homebrew shop this weekend and got his advice on which stout to do. He advised me to go for the Milestone Black Pearl; he told me there was a recent beer festival and it went down extremly well!

I know it is more expensive (£18 or so) but it is a 3kg kit and doe's not need any brewing sugar / beer enhancer!

So I bought it and going to start doing it within the next month or so!

I've always done the standard Stout kit, and it always turns out very good indeed when made up with 1Kg of dark spraymalt. Stout kits usually turn out well, but the Coopers Stout never fails to impress me every time I make it.

I understand Ditch has had one of the new kits, but I'm not sure if he's brewed it yet or not.

In the wings as we type, Paul! Just checked my latest 'straight' Coopers Stout and it's started building that head. I have quite the range of ideas (and Coopers kits) to try out presently too.

Right now though, I'm just aiming to replenish my own stock of " Ditch's Stout ", after a year of spinning out of all control with distractions.

For Scottmoss? Go ye own way, mate. Listen to who ye like. Or no one.

Try what ever ye heart leads ye to. Then try the rest, to compare, perhaps? But, at the end of the day? Brew what You prefer. How you prefer. Hell; It's you gotta make it and drink it, after all!
