you didn't bust one of the 'teabags' did you? that might explain it.

I'd crack a bottle open and see if it smells and tastes okay to put my mind at ease.

I'd be interested to know what happened here.

My Wherry kit is on day 9 in the FV and still happily bubbling away. Anyway, there are lots of bits floating on the surface and I can only think that it's dead yeast or something. I had a quick taste tonight and it's fine i.e. not sour or anything so I presume all is okay - it's my first brew in about 15 years or more so I'm a bit rusty!

Should I chill out and leave it or chuck in some more (hydrated) yeast - I have some SO4 on standby. I'm minded to wait seeing as it's obviously still working.

Any ideas?

Breezy the only way to be sure, if it's ready for bottling-barreling, is to take hydrometer readings, you need 2 exact same readings over 24 hours, should finish at 1016 or lower on this kit. If it's still bubbling it's still fermenting. The bits floating are probably just Krausen crust, nothing to worry about.

most likely little clods of yeast from the crust if not particles from the hop bag. anyway not to worry as long as all ended well mate. ;)
