I-BREW recall???

Post by xena wino princess » Fri Oct 16, 2009 1:31 pm

I brought a product called an i-brew (ok not brewing as it should be but I was sold it by the brew shop and the chilled lager did seem very tempting....). On going back to the shop I found the big tower of i-brew packs conspicuous by their absence. The brewing shop guy told me they had been recalled because there is an risk of them exploding. So do I get my money back I asked (quite politely I might ad). No chance said brewing shop guy, seems the makers want to keep it quiet.
So has anyone had this problem and is my fridge safe to open?
Thanks, Zena.

xena,

Whilst I dont actually know the answer, I would say it is either a recal or not and you can not keep a recal quite, thats the point. I would contact them directly. 01283 564161

On another note I can not believe the price they are selling that for, £66!!!! Am I missing something?? Thats for 40 pints of kit beer?? You can go to your local (micro) Brewery and get a polypin for that.

Hi,

I've just spoke to a very helpful guy from IBrew (Muntons) and he has informed me that there is no recall or any danger of the ibrew exploding!

I have just had a bottle explode.
Don't even think of buying one of these. The mess created by 10 pints of sticky beer exploded in our kitchen is unimaginable. Even after washing all the walls , floor, inside and outside of cupboards, the laptop, all the paper work that was lying about etc. the kitchen still smells like a brewery.

In addition, you are locked into expensive beer kits which have two tins per 40pint brew, the gas capsules do not have quite enough gas to empty the full 10 pints, so you end up using 2 per bottle which adds 8p to the cost of each pint, and the beer comes out of the tap at a trickle, so if you have a party, the queue for beer gets very long and impatient.

Stephen, have you taken this up with Muntons and, if so, what was their response?
