Hi,
after fermenting my beer I put some of it in a barrel in the garage and some in bottled in the fridge. What I am wondering now though is whether it's all got too cold as I read somewhere that it's supposed to be primed at room temperature. Will I have killed the yeast? If I take the bottles out of the fridge and put them on the side will the secondary fermentation restart? Any ideas?
Cheers,
Scott

I am sure it will be fine, after all yeast is always stored in the fridge.

Re: Bottling beer
Hi Scott,
Don't worry, the yeast is very much alive. It has just gone dormant due to the low temperature. What you should do is leave them at room temperature for 2 weeks to ensure they are carbonated. After that you can stick them into the fridge for 2 more to help them clear. Alternatively, you can just leave them at room temperature for a few weeks then chill as and when you want to drink them.
Is it a kit? If so, lager, stout or ale?

Hi,
2 weeks for secondary fermentation seems a bit excessive when it's only in primary for 1 week. I tend to leave it for 4-5 days in secondary.

I bottled a brew once on the day I went away on holiday for 2 weeks. As the weather forcast was really hot I didn't want to leave them out this long, so popped them all in my fridge. 14 days later I got them out and gave them a week in the warm and then back in the cold. They primed up just as well as every other brew I've done.
