He lives in bungalow named
Calamity Gulch in a flat and desolate part of the fens. I bet it's lovely there at present.
You need to give your Wherry a minimum 6 week conditioning period and ideally a couple of weeks longer to be at it's best.

Well, here in another flat and desolate part of the fens, we have had much less rain than up t'north....quite pleasant really.
Anyway, I saw in an earlier post a questions about how long you can leave beer in the barrel before it starts to deteriorate, but no definitive answer as yet. Any thoughts? (apart from drink it faster)

I guess the pressure is increasing a bit? I moved it just now from my warm kitchen out to the shed. I guess thats it now eh? Just a waiting game now.. I am now looking around for my next kit to try!
Do you have a budget keg

if the tap is leaking make sure you haven't turned it too far in the off position cos they leak, just turn it back till you feel a little click.

At least 6 months and, I've been reliably told, up to a year, provided it has a covering of CO2.

Hello everyone, I am back! I know its a bit premature (3 weeks in the barrel) but I've just taken a 'sample' to try and I'm a bit concerned.. Its completely flat, cloudy and there was no pressure in the barrel.. Should I put a Co2 cartridge into it? Whats gone wrong??

Hi, yes I primed the barrel with sugar.. I read a few bits on here last night and think I may have moved it to the shed too soon? I moved it out there after only 2 days in the barrel. It tasted ok but I can see some kind of white bits in the bottom of the glass, when I get it on my fingers it is soft and kind of 'dissapears' when I rub it into my hand.. Any ideas what this is?

All I can think is it may be sugar that hasn't dissolved, I may be wrong, you should maybe start another thread so someone who knows can answer you.

They should really put a note to this effect in the wherry microbrewery kit.. I just kegged my first wherry last night and woke up this morning to find it's leaked all over my very expensive and now quite ruined guitar amp. Not only was the tap leaking from the spout, but it had actually unthreaded itself a bit and was leaking at the seal too.
The top of my keg has swelled quite drastically, so I can only assume the valve that's supposed to release excess pressure isn't working.
RAGE.

Just lift the little rubber sleeve to release some pressure.

Ahhh right, I see how it works now, thanks.

Looks like my seal was stuck.. I just gave it a quick wiggle and it vented for a few seconds then settled down. Seems to be working fine now.

let the amp dry out and then if its valve dry it some more with an hair dryer what ever you do dont turn it on.
got a mesa boogie and i know how much these things can cost, any probs see stratman he builds guitars and amps and is local to sheffield not much he doesnt know about circuitry.

Great, thanks for that link. I've been looking for a good local tech for some time.
I've actually had the top off the amp myself since I'm not too shabby with a soldering iron. Thankfully my prized 1950s valves are untouched and it looks like nothing got into the circuitry, so the only damage is a big stain on the speaker cloth.. I'm not sure if the speaker cone itself got wet since its a closed cab so I can't get in for a look without ruining it, but it sounds fine. Ah well, I suppose a massive ale stain on my cab adds a bit of rock n' roll character.

Anyway sorry to take the thread off topic.
