Help Keg has gone abit flat

Post by Donoghues » Sun Jan 10, 2010 5:46 pm

Brewed Wherry kit and turned out lovely, really nice and creamy but now half way down keg and it seems to have lost its body, the flow hasn't really slowed or stopped. Should I add some Co2 or anything else to help it out, doesn't seem to have gone bad, tastes same, just lost its head and creaminess. Any help appreciated

are you keeping the keg somewhere very cold? if so try moving to somewhere a little warmer.
otherwise (but possibly 'as well as' the above, if the pressure's gone right down) addition of some CO2 may help - especially if it's a 'bottom-tap' keg, sometimes you don't really realise that the gas pressure had been badly depleted because the beer still dispenses reasonably well under gravity until the last moments.
And the usual things like making sure all your glassware is spotlessly clean with all traces of detergent removed.

Yep, add some gas, that should sort out the problem.

Thanks for the help, it is quite cold so will move somewhere warmer and put in some gas. Cheers

10-14C is the best temperature for a Wherry in a keg.
