Muntons Premium Gold Instructions?

Post by discodave » Sun Jan 21, 2007 4:33 pm

I've just treated myself to their MIDAS TOUCH golden ale and after reading the instructions, I am seeking help..

Muntons recommend fermenting for 2 to 3 days then transferring to another fermenter under airlock until fermentation ends.

They say this eliminates 'yeast bite'.

Does it? Or can I just ferment for 10 days in my bin (under airlock) then transfer to barrel as i have always done.?

They say nothing about skimming the head after 2 to 3 days. Would this work just as well?

I thought I had this beer lark sussed out, now this!

Thanks in advance,

Dave.

I personally always rack into a second fermenter, but this is because the majority of my brews are from grain and I seem to get a lot of trub and other gunk thrown up with the yeast head  and I can only think that removing the beer from such "imperfections" can only be beneficial :?
A lot of the guys on here don't bother and ferment out fully in the primary and have no problems 8)
I would have thought that a quality kit would be fine in the primary under airlock :)
