Old Ale

Post by Chris The Fish » Mon Mar 12, 2007 10:31 pm

Im thinking of getting a Dark Old Ale on the go, something like Old Peculier, or a rich version of a Hobgoblin type ale.

Can anyone recommend a good kit to get that will give me these types of characteristics?

i dont mind customising them, with varying different ingredients or experimenting with a base kit and then letting my creative self go.

any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm with DaaB there. The Brewers Choice Old Ale is an excellent choice. To give more body I'd use 1.5kg of malt extract either Brupaks or John Bull - depending upon what your local shop stock. If Brupaks go for the amber. If John Bull use either Amber or Dark Amber for best results. Also use either body bru or spraymalt for priming.
