What are the consequences of drinking beer that isn't ready?

Post by GeorgeXXIII » Thu Mar 08, 2007 3:18 pm

Hello I just tried some of my beer thats only 8 days old. It's been in the keg for the last 2 days. The reason I tried it was to find if i had a leak in the keg as my last lot was lovely tasting but flat (see my post on brewing equipment section for more detail....if you're interested)
Thing is now i've tasted this very well aerated beer I dont want to stop so....
Will it make me ill?
Will it get me pissed?
:-({|=

No. Well, it might make you ill, like any beer could  , but if it was 'bad' beer it would be very difficult to drink.
Will it get me pissed?
Yes 8)

Thing is this was just a youngs harvester bitter(I did use spray malt and brewing sugar).
In my bag is a Woodfordes Nelson's revenge...my first go at a good beer. I won't muck about with that one. :bonk

2) It just reaches the peak of flavour when you're down to the last pint! :(

Chopper you've got it exactly right. Yeast has an extremely good effect on the digestive system. I remember many years ago running a beer tent for a civil war event and our local brew was Morlands (before the days of Greene King) and they use a particulary virulent strain of yeast. After much quaffing of ale, big burly men were reduced to queuing up in the ladies :D
