Good morning to you all,
I am new to home brewing and would be greatful if you would advise me on the best kit to buy when starting out.
I bought a kit from boots about ten years ago and it was drinkable but not very palatable.
i am looking at brewing my own real ales am i trying to run before i can walk?
What would you guys (and gals...so as not to be sexist) go for in my possition?
Can you sugest a good web site where the items can be purchased as the nearest home brew shop to me is in Bristol some 25-30 miles away!
Thanks for your time.
Nick
New to home brewing and in need of advice
Welcome !
I just started home brewing a few weeks ago and I must say I wish I started earlier !
For my initial outlay of around £50 I managed to get everything I needed (and more) from my local brew shop and even my local wilkinsons.
I made a Brupaks Yorkshire Ale (Almondbury Old) and it's great. Only took about two weeks before I was able to drink it although i've left it to mature for another couple of weeks before it's ready. Meanwhile I've made an alocopop (not very nice as I used sugar and as DaaB said, dont use sugar!), so I'm on making a ginger beer and a lager too !
Once you start there's no looking back !
Enjoy your home brew !
Steve.

Good luck Nick, there is no looking back it all keeps getting better from here
you'll be very surprised by the quality of the beer you'll produce as you go on. Like everything in life you get what you pay for so it's probably best to avoid i can kits and go with the 3kg ones except the coopers kits which is the only "cheap" kit i have made good beer from go bless their little hearts
