Hey Guys,
I am using a coopers Mexican Cerveza Beer Kit and adding 1 kg of light Spray Malt. I want to make the beer strong, approx 7%. There is no real homebrew supplies near me and I dont want to order more from online again. My question is can I just add normal sugar that you get in the local store at the start with the rest of the spraymalt to make it stronger. Would be grateful for a simple solution....
Thanks
Garrett
Stronger Beer !!!!
Re: Stronger Beer !!!!
Technically you can, but it will taste and "feel" wrong.
If you want to make a tasty beer then go with Coopers, if you want to make Strong stuff, then maybe a turbo cider is more up your street.

or try what i made, with a load of citrus fruits and a bottle of tequila.
Re: Stronger Beer !!!!
Your best bet is to short brew it to make it stronger. Maybe to 18 litres instead of 23 litres. Mind you, you will still only get a little over 5%. Tesco stock Fructose (little green bags in the sugar section), which may be better than table sugar. Add 500g of that and short brew to 18 litres and you may get somewhere around 6 or 6.5%.... at a guess!

Re: Stronger Beer !!!!
Brew the kit as intended, if you want something stronger buy a Breferm Dibolo.
Its ok to add a few points here n there with extra fermentables in a std kit, but you start to lose the intended beer flavours.
If you want to make up something extra strong, use 2 tins of coopers and a kilo of DME, that way you will retain the intended beer flavours.
