Cascade 'Imperial Voyage' Pale Ale Kit

Post by splitter » Sun Apr 15, 2007 8:18 pm

Mrs Splitters sister (god bless her) brought me back this kit from australia.
Its a copy of a comercial brew from the cascade brewery in Tasmania and made by Brewcraft.
It was Premium range and so included safale04 yeast, beer enhancer and hop pellets.
Its been maturing for 3 weeks now so I've been suppin it while doing my first all grain brews this w'end. 8)
I didn't really strain the bits of hop out very well (1st time using them, and the pellets leave lots of tiny bits), however, all the bottles have dropped totally clear and the beer is delicious. :) Obviously an all pale malt recipe, i guessed cascade hops from the name but they do seem to make cascade stout plus others so probably just the name of the brewery
The safale04 has formed a far more solid deposit at the bottom of the bottles than with previous kits (mostly muntons).
I can still pour a clear pint after a few!
Anyway, would be interested to here if anyone has tried the commercial brew, or has seen the kit about in shops over here?

Out of interest Splitter, which home brew shop do you use for supplies locally? I'm near Sudbury and had to drive to Lowestoft the other day...

Cheers daab, have seen you recommend that one elsewhere. like the idea of adding some fresh hops to a kit.

Fivetide, that is a long way to go. dedication! =D>
There is definately an HB shop in Stowmarket but i have never been there. I've got stuff from Wilkinsons in Ipswich and they have a decent selection. For anything abit more specialist i have been ordering from hop and grape. they do next day delivery for less than a fiver which is about what it would would cost me in petrol to get to stowmarket and back. Hope this helps.[/quote]

Thanks. Wikinson's eh?

Yeah, also been to Harts Homebrew in Stowmarket. It has all the basics, but it's not great. You can kits kits and malt and hydrometers and stuff, but for example, only two types of Muntons own yeast, no Safale...
