What yeast have people used so far with this kit?
I'm guessing it comes with yeast. But what kind? Lager or Ale? I'm betting lager given the beer type. I'm going to order one, i want to make sure i get the right type.

Coopers Mexican Cerveza Kit- Yeast Query
I assume the provided yeast is ale yeast as the brewing instructions are the same for pale ale,Mexican Cerveza and Canadian Blonde at 21C. The only different instruction is for Coopers Bavarian lager kit which has a different yeast and fermenting temperature as low as 13C.
I used Safale S-23 dry lager yeast with my kit and it is fermenting in the Brick Shed at 14/15C.
Hope this helps.

Graham

The yeast in the Coopers Mexican Cerveza Kit is an ale/lager blend.
Only the International Series Bavarian Lager and Brewmaster Selection Pilsener have lager yeasts (Saflager).
Most brewers here in Oz ditch the yeast (or use them as nutrient in the boil) and buy US56 or S-04 for ales, S23 or W34/70 for lagers.

In the end i didnt get the cerveza.
I got Coopers Bitter (I actually asked for the Coopers Special Reserve Australian Bitter but there was a mix up, i dont care it will be nice i expect) and i just ordered the Coopers Special IPA kit.
I have 2kg of Spray malt for the kits and some goldings hops.
Hopefully this should make 2 nice kegs for the hot weather

Thats a good tip for putting the yeast you get with the kits to some use, either that or for TC.drsmurto wrote:The yeast in the Coopers Mexican Cerveza Kit is an ale/lager blend.
