Wilkinsons bargains
Wilkinsons bargains
Popped into Wilkinsons in Rotherham today and they were selling the Tom Caxton real ale kits for £7.50 each. Got myself a few and there were still loads left on the shelf. Not sure if this is store specific or accross all shops.
Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Just been into Wilko's in Oswestry (Shropshire) and this kit is priced at and scanning at £15, so store specific I'm afraid
. Worth a check anyway.

Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Just popped into my local Wilkos in Shrewsbury and Tom Caxton Best Bitter kits half price £7.50 (only one, dented and no yeast sachet but worth it for that) and Tom Caxton Mild kits half price £5.50. Got a couple of these. Now to see what I can do to the mild kits to make them more interesting (although I don't mind a drop of mild to be fair)
Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Bumping this as just been back into my Wilkos this morning and they had new stock of the Caxtons real ale, best bitter and Geordie mild kit, all still half price. Also got the Youngs Emily bottle capper for a bargain £5! So well worth checking if you are passing. Note they all had normal white tickets not sale ones.
Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Down at the in-laws and the Chatham branch is reduced on selected lines too. Geordie kits mostly left at a fiver each. I went a bit mad during the Tesco sale so left it well alone
Signs up on the shelves advertising a new range so i take it they are clearing out old stock. Noticed a few own brand Wilko finings / nutrient, etc so i take it they are going that way.

Spoke to the manager of local branch today. They are about to relaunch home brew section with larger display and extra stock
Not good for LHBS however

Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Until they do decent kits and ingredients I can't see that much impact on LHBS.
Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Is that just because they don't stock Coopers Pilsner?!?!cellone wrote:Until they do decent kits and ingredients I can't see that much impact on LHBS.
There are peeps on here who say they have had good results from the Caxton and Geordie kits... and in any case if it is a new range we don't know what they are going to stock, do we?
Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Might be
. Although I still think until superstore can offer a wide range of kits, additives and equipment there will still be a place for LHBS. Ther are only a few kits I really like and I can get 2 of them sent to the local tesco's if I order on line but they don't sell any of the other stuff I use or need. I get that from my LHBS (17 miles) where there is a much better range of kits.

Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Didn't realise Tesco.com did home brew stuff, just had a gander and quite a good range of Cooper's stuff.
Re: Wilkinsons bargains
Just spoke to my local store manager, all stocks will be Muntons! Probably the crap they can't sell, under differn't labelling - BEWARE!
