I went straight to the horses mouth concerning the issues around Woodfordes kits - see below
UESTION:
I believe Muntons makes the Woodfordes beer kits? Can you confirm what the ratio of fermentable : unfermentable sugars are in the wort please - there are a lot of people complaining about these kits finishing fermentation at too high a gravity (1015 or so).
ANSWER:
I understand the issues that are being discussed on the gravity readings some people are getting at the moment with these kits. We have run tests internally and have not been able to simulate the problems and nor have the yeast manufacterers.
We are therefore looking at other issues that could effect the fermentability as the extract is of a ratio of about 9:1 of fermentable sugars and this is not what is causing these problems. Can you let me know where the people are complaining and on what forums so i can try and respond.
Thanks
Please feel free to get back to us for any further assistance.
Sincerely,

Woodfordes issues - a reply from Muntons
I made up a Wherry last week with Danstar Nottingham yeast, it threw a lovely head and got down to 1010-1012 in 5 days. It's now sitting with a large handfull of Goldings steeping in a closed fermenter and happily clearing. I'm really looking forward emptying one of my barrels.Chris The Fish wrote:ive 100% failure rate with woodfordes kits when it comes to not reaching an appropriate FG (my wherry got to 1014 after a repitch)
i have only done 1 kit tho.
