Thermometers

Post by troublebrewing » Sun May 13, 2007 6:29 pm

I have developed a new brewing obsession - temperature checking (not quite up there with hand washing and avoiding the joins in paving slabs, but...

... now that I have got sterilising well under control, and am more relaxed about not adding EXACTLY 23l of water etc, I am gettign a bit botherted about the temperature of hydrating yeast and the wort when in the fermenting bin.

I have a brew belt foe the fermenter, but placing it 4" off the base of the bin in order to achieve x degress is a bit too hit or miss for my liking.

I want to be able to control that temperature a bit better, but also need a suitable thermometer for generally checking the temp of the water prior to adding dry yeast and so on.

Can we have some recommendations for thermometers for these?

:)

Thanks

TB
