£10 Xmas Stout!
Re: £10 Xmas Stout!
I remember this thread from last year and Mrs Wilf is pestering me to get on with a Christmas ale. This sounds a great recipe and may also steep some orange zest and coriander seeds. Thanks for bumping it.
Re: £10 Xmas Stout!
And its off! Didn't look like I had enough Amarillo to do both the hop tea and the dry hop so for the hop tea did 20g Target which I've had sitting around for a year unused and 10g Cascade. Will dry hop in Secondary with Amarillo as per.

Inspired by this recipe, I've just knocked up 18L of Coopers Stout with 1kg medium DME and 30g Amarillo. Still waiting for it to cool down enough to measure OG and pitch the yeast but I'm already looking forward to it. I'll dry hop it with some more Amarillo in about a week's time.

You can help it along with the addition of some orange zest.widdersbel wrote:Inspired by this recipe, I've just knocked up 18L of Coopers Stout with 1kg medium DME and 30g Amarillo. Bottling today. Dry-hopped it five days ago with 40g Amarillo. It smells amazing. Tastes pretty darn good too - has an intriguing hint of caramelised oranges. OG of 1046 and FG of 1008 makes it about 5% abv.
Tbh, I'm not sure it needs any more orangey flavours. Will bear it in mind for next time though.6470zzy wrote:You can help it along with the addition of some orange zest.

Let us know how it progresses - £15 still isn't too bad.
Cheers
