"Another" Coopers IPA

Post by Kit_Maker » Wed Jul 04, 2007 7:47 pm

It seems to be the general concensus to igonore the intstructions on the Coopers IPA can (which suggest using 500g spraymalt and 300g glucose etc.) and use 1kg spraymalt instead.

Has anyone done this and found it turned out too malty or too sweet?

Just want to hear a few opinions before I start mine.

Hi Kit Maker

I have done this and as I type drinking the result :)

I'm pleasently suprised. It's a fine brew, and I'll make it again. IMO it's as good if not better than some of the 2 can kits I've done and at £9 for the kit and £5 for the spray malt that can't be bad.

Go for it!

Better than a lot of 2 can brews....superb in bottle after 6 months.

Ok cheers guys.

I have recently made a Cooper's Wheat using 500g Spray Malt and 300g glucose so I reakon it's time to experiment a little, so I'll throw 1kg of spraymalt into this one and see how it turns out.

I bottled my Coopers IPA at the weekend, made with 1kg DME. FG of 1.010, had a cheeky taster while bottling. Although clearly nowhere near ready, early signs are that its going to be a good one :D Must resist a couple of weeks......

I made up the kit with 500 gr spraymalt and 300 gr of brewers sugar and it has turned out brilliantly.
I steeped a slack handful of fuggles in the unrinsed malt tin for 10 minutes with 3/4 of a litre of hot water and added that liqour to the fermenting bin as well.
It has been conditioning in the keg for 3 weeks and comes out crystal clear.
I prefer it to the Woodfordes Wherry I did last time.
