Amber Malt Extract Acquired

Post by Chill » Thu Oct 01, 2015 4:10 pm

So I've managed to acquire two tins of coopers amber malt extract (in-date) and i'd like to turn these into a beer, obviously I need a yeast strain and some hops but having previously only brewed ready made kits I don't know where to start which choosing a good combo to fit what i have, does anyone have any suggestions? I've also got a spare bag of light spray malt to add into the mix if it would be beneficial.

I'm happy with all styles of beer as beer is great.

Identify an ale you enjoy and would like to replicate, then we will take it from there.

I'd quite like to replicate Badger's Fursty Ferret if its possible with the amber malt I have, other supermarket ales I drink regularly are old peculiar, hobgoblin and bass to name just a few! is it relatively easy to fine Clone recipes?

I double checked and its actually a 1kg bag of dark spray malt ive got not light if that makes a difference.

Last time I attempted to clone Fursty Ferret I cheated and used a few drops of peach extract flavouring.
Follow this guide for something close, but change the Fuggles hops for Apollo.
As you are using to tins of unhopped malt extract I would boil the hops with 1 tin of extract in as much water as your pan will hold for 60 minute
