Leffe Brown

Post by Keviebaby » Tue Jul 31, 2007 8:45 pm

Hi Everyone,

Am really getting back into this brewing lark. The kit's I'm doing now seem to be a lot better than the ones I remember doing in the late 90's. Or maybe the crap in the cans that I've been drinking for the past few years is just getting worse!

Anyway, I had a hankering the other night ( ) for a glass of Leffe Brown and I was wondering if any of you know of a kit that will give a similar beer? Maybe one of the Brewferm ones, or one to go in a Brubox as I fancy giving that a go as well?

If you can suggest one and it specifies adding sugar would you also recommend adding spraymalt or sticking with sugar as I seem to remember reading that some Belgian breweries do use sugar in their beers?

Cheers,

Kev

Check out the Brewferm kits. Quite a few interesting Belgium styles covered there.

Cheers CC. Had a look at their website and downloaded a copy of their brewing instructions and it says to ferment at 25C
I presume that the yeasts they use benefit from the higher temp. Good beers to brew in the summer then :D

the 3 breferm kits ive tried have all been done somewhere between 18-25 (or room temp at least) and have come out fine!

i shouldnt worry too much unless it gets too hot, or too cold.

Many Belgian beers rely on the spicy notes some yeasts produce, often at higher temperatures.

That makes them a great bet for the summer months - in fact I might have to get hold of a couple myself :)
