it is also ironic that this is my first brew in this clear better bottle. I have now covered it to block the light just in case, hope it isnt ruined!!!

At the mo im fermenting in my garage due to temps (even that got a bit warm over the weekend!), which means it is in total darkness 95% of the time and i still get sulphur smells - so its definately not only UV which produces these traits.
As SF says,
certain yeast strains produce the same type of smells (esp. lager yeasts), i also belive that high fermentation temps contributes to these pungent gasses. Its also worth noting that when sniffing your wort, try not to drop your guts as this may give false smell readings.
