Hey folks
I knocked up a modified version of the coopers imperial stout today. I made it to the recipe a few years back, and it ent across quite well, but tasted a bit too much like super lager, alcohol after taste, not much body.
I made it to 33l in a 60l blue food grade barel
1x coopers stout kit
1x coopers euro lager kit
1x coopers dark ale kit
1x coopers irish stout kit
1kg brewing sugar
1kg spray malt (bag ends, some light, some medium, some dark)
added all 4 kit yeast sachets in
starting gravity of 1070, i'll be leaving it in fermenter for about a month, will update with final gravity, etc.

Re: imperial stout modification
4 kits to get to 10.70 ? What will it end up around 8% ?

Re: imperial stout modification
Yeah, somewhere around 8-8.5% but i figured it should be a lot more flavourful than the version that used three kits brewed to 20l (but really needed a 30+l fermenter because of the foam) I liked that version, apart from immediately after drinking the aftertaste was like a can of tennents super. not pleasant, but it was very chocolately while drinking...
I'm going to keg some of it, and bottle some of it, I wanted to make the batch bigger so I had plenty in a keg, as well as a fair few bottles.
I got the kits pretty cheap (8 quid a pop) as they were close to BBE date.

How is this brew going? Must be getting toward the end of fermentation by now.. sounds like an interesting experiment.
