Lager fermentation question

My lager is fermanting away and when ready i'm gonna transfer to my corny. Do i transfer straight to the corny from fermentor or should i barrel first(secondary fermentation?) and corny it later. Also should i leave it as long in primary fermentation. My first brew, a bitter, i left for ten days in the end, is it ok to leave the lager as long or should i barrel it sooner

This is gonna sound stupid now but how long does it take to fall bright and how can you tell when it's in the barrel?
