Hello,
I have a couple of questions.
Is it possible to brew beer in quantities of 1 gallon ie in a demijon? I am doing lots of TC but do not have enough space for a 5 gallon bucket for beer!
If it is can I use a kit? Any recomendations?
Also if it is possible can I use local hops for my brew?
Many thanks.

Thanks for the info.
OK, I think I'll try my first ever beer.
Any tips for recipes, or how to get going?
I'm ok with brewing cider, but beer is a new world to me.
Typically drink Spitfire or Harveys so would like to try something similar, so a kit with end results similar to those would be good.
Many thanks

I often do this to 'prove' a yeast that I have obtained from a 'non clean' source (bottle, Keg, Brewery
)
After growing the yeast in a micro culture (2m wort) it is plated, and a couple of clean colonies selected and stored in sterile distilled water. I then take some of teh yeast in water and build up a starter. Make a gallon of wort using spray malt, and what ever hops come to hand from the freezer, pitch the starter, and ferment it out. If the yeast is good, I have 8 Pints of reasonable beer to drink (And a large starter slurry). If the yeast is bad / contaminated, then I've not wasted too much time/money/effort with it.

Hops not yet purcahsed, seen and advert. So will have to look sometime next week to find out more info.

Thanks for that Info. I will get reading, then hopefully brewing!
One quick one though. If I go for a dry pack (Brupack/Hambleton Bard)
do I just adjust for 1 gallon?
Also there seem to be a lot of brew packs which ones are the ones I should look at>
Many thanks!
