tap leaked-transferred to new fermenter-problems?

Post by kitoog » Sat Sep 22, 2007 12:32 pm

i noticed my fermenter was leaking yesterday about 4 hours after brewing brewpaks wheat beer .i transfered it to another sterilised barrel. today there is pressure on the airlock but did not start bubbling yet. the room temp was 17 celcius last night and about 20 today.do you think it will start fermenting radidly and would you think i need a brew belt. although i will not be able to get brew belt till tuesday. i lost about 2 litres from the leak.

well fellow athlonian alex, must arrange a visit to your brewery, will bring bugno along with hops or something.
kit came with brewferm blanche yeast, which should be very active from what i read.

Never used it but it sure does look like a quality yeast, what can you do only give it a bit more time and see what happens. You have no problem with temp, how long ago did you pitch? Your more than welcome to come visit the brewery anytime once i've ironed out all the little problems. Probably do a brew tomorrow, i'm hoping it goes better than last time

I only siphon from a fermenter as the more simple your set up is the less problems you have.
as to the yeast problem adding another batch of yeast is not a problem because it will be left in the sediment after fermentation.

but for god's sake don't use bread yeast
