thanks Oxford. I'm now enlightened. She's been as good as gold with my foray into the world of brewing considering all the fermentation, bottling and now conditioning has taken place in our bedroom! She even crown-capped all the bottles for me

I doubt it. She's already given her critique - 'it tastes like dirty water!' Pah! I did explain that was pre-conditioning beer and I expect great things. TBH it probably did taste a bit rought but the fact its my baby that I've nurtured from 2 x metal tins, 23 litres of tescos water and 1 x sachet of yeast makes it taste fantastic to me. Perspective and delusion are wonderful things!

Been postponing the heating as late as we can - probably will go on tomorrow (just like to make it to October). It has turned pretty chilly here in the last week or so - being 700 feet above sea level it does get a bit cooler than 'darn saff'.
