Re: Kit Brewers Challenge....PLEASE READ THIS!
Just cracked open one of my ESBs. You can taste the strength but OMG it's BLM. Happy to oblige with reciprocal swaps... PM your address and I'll send a bottle, I'll let you have my address too so we can compare notes

First pint pulled

Re: Kit Brewers Challenge....PLEASE READ THIS!
Nice! Where did you get the glass done out of interest?
Re: Kit Brewers Challenge....PLEASE READ THIS!
Yes that's a nice glass. I'd be up for having one made up.
Re: Kit Brewers Challenge....PLEASE READ THIS!
Trophy shop in Bradford, I gave them a pic and they converted it for the glass
Re: Kit Brewers Challenge....PLEASE READ THIS!
In 1 EB, had to google to check it though

Re: Kit Brewers Challenge....PLEASE READ THIS!
Awesome. I might give em a call and see if I can email them a pic and collect the glass next time I'm up. Thanks for that!

Thank you WA for the beer: here's the review and a couple of pics (if you click on them you'll get a much bigger version).

The ESB was a deep copper colour and not quite clear. It had a creamy, just off white head about two fingers deep which fairly quickly dropped back to one finger. There was good lacing all the way down the pint.
It didn't have a strong aroma, but there was maltiness up front with a little bit of bitter at the back and some slight earthy/leafy hints.
A nice level of carbonation gave a lively feel in the mouth without being overly fizzy.
The taste was all bitter up front, followed by something lemony and finishing with a nice bitter/sweet combination. There's a bit of sharpness (not a bitterness), that works really well with the carbonation and malty sweetness.
All in all, once again home brew trumps most pub beer and the vast majority of what's on offer in the super market; much more interesting and feels like a real treat.
Many thanks WA and best wishes - Louis MacNeice

Louis,
Thanks for the review!
Just `Taste Tested`your bottle! Bloody Lovely Mun!
Good Hiss on opening, Lovely, Real Beery smell, Great Malty taste, Good Mouthfeel, Nice Reddy Colour!
This feels like a 5 - 5.5% ABV. Just right.
What is the ABV of this Beer?

Great Pint Louis, Love it when I slurp and sniff and suck in the fumes like Jilly Goolden!
There are numerous stickies on JBK to show you how to post pics. Go to the Homepage there is something on there.
Cheers!

Thanks WA - the abv should be about 5%; I don't do hydrometer readings (I know I should) but given what went into it it should have ended up about there. Glad you liked it and I'll try with the photos later today.

Re: Kit Brewers Challenge....PLEASE READ THIS!
WA kindly sent me a bottle of his ESB to sample
It opened with a decent hiss and was pouring with a nice natural head, when I suddenly noticed that the yeast sediment had lifted from the bottom of the bottle and was rushing towards my glass.
As you can see, that left quite a bit of beer in the bottle, so I decided to down that bit from the bottle as I didn't want to waste any of the brew.
The beer that ended up I'm my glass wasn't 100% clear, which I put down to the naughty yeast. The head stayed for the duration of drink and the carbonation was nice and smooth along with the malty body of the beer.
The aroma was earthy, fruity and malty.
Hop flavour wasn't as strong as I was expecting, but English hops aren't as potent as their US counterparts. I got an earthy hop flavour, balanced bitterness, but a bit of a murky finish that could be yeast again.
All in all a tasty brew that fits well with the style but unfortunately not quite as good as his Wherry ESB, but that beer would certainly take some beating as it was exceptional!
Cheers again WA.

Now where's that bottle of Extract APA..............
