Hello from Wilkinson
Re: Hello from Wilkinson
Hi Steve,
I am in a brilliant location as I have a hb shop 4 miles away. Wilkos with 2m display 1 mile and Wilkos 3m display 7 miles and am a regular customer to all. My latest purchase from Wilkos was a hydrometer and jar, which whilst priced very reasonably, the quality was awful, as when checking the calibration the reading was 5 increments out, which is a lot. I had no problem with obtaining a refund. Maybe a good idea to audit the quality and accuracy of your supplier(s).
Other than the above problem I realy enjoy the range of HB products you stock and can only look forward even more as you expand the range
Thanks
Phil

Re: Hello from Wilkinson
steve,
i`m an infrequent wilko shopper, i only pop in when i go and see my family. the pricing and range of kits online looks like exellent value. and i will be taking advantage when i pop up to W midlands. the single kits are priced right at £10, so for £20 can bang out a fantastic 40/45pint brew using 2 kits. ~45p a pint.
the 2 tin kits are pretty tight market, looking online normal priced wherry £22, wilko best beer £22. if i had the choice of either woodfordes or wilko, its gonna be woodfordes, sorry. i seriously get that you dont make the kits, someone else does, and your logo goes on the box. one thing is missing, is descriptive tasting notes. it just says " thirst quenching Golden ale " or "fully flavoured". how a bout some minor tasting notes?,
beer is beer though, worst case scenario, a customer is stuck with 40 pints of beer he may not "love"
tasting notes may convince me to give these a go, instead of going elsewhere if wherry etc ...is unavailable. i know people are going to taste different things, but to new brewers it gives us something !
what would you go for?
beer 1 -thirst quenching golden ale
beer 2 amber ale, citrus fruit, hoppy, sweet malts,
the free sugar offer is great.
the other point that has been already said, stocking a different yeast than english ale, say safale-05 ?

Hi Steve, thanks for coming on here and looking for feedback, classy thing to do, i'm regularly in wilkinsons to pick up bit and pieces,
just a quick Q any chance you're considering including cheap spray malt in the smaller (2m display) stores at all, I can't find any stores with the 3m display north of the Tyne (newcastle, Gateshead, Byker, shields, Blyth etc) on your list
Cheers

Yep same here only thing I can find is muntons spray malt online, I've asked Steve from wilkinsons is it true wilkos sell there own but got no response yet. Even if it was only available on line or only light I wouldn't care at 2 quid a kilo
Re: Hello from Wilkinson
The Wilko's stuff is from Muntons, Kits and all so the spray malt should be the same.

Cheers, HH. Wonder where he's got to then? Good thread and seemingly set to keep going strong.
