Kegged my adapted IPA after it dropped to 1.006 (the first time I've ever hit a gravity that low with beer), and judging by the smell, this will be a corker! Just have to resist it now for a few weeks.
I'd have to say that from the small samples from the trial jar, this could be better than my extract brews. And at a shade under fifteen quid, it'll be 25% cheaper too! Hurrah.

Re: Adapted kits vs Extract
Brewing a beer for my 21 birthday it’s a Woodford’s wherry from Wilkinson’s (local home brew shop is shut till the 26th http://www.homebrewwales.co.uk/ ) was thinking about adapting this kit by adding hops to the pressure barrel (is this called dry hopping?) was thinking putting them in a muslin bag boiling them just to sanitize and then doping them in? wot are everybody’s thoughts on this? wot hops shall I use and in wot quantities. Any help appreciated probably would have given up by now without the help of the people on here.
Re: Adapted kits vs Extract
which would be a good kit to buy for this way of brewing???? we have only tried one single can kit so far that wasnt a patch on any other 2 can kits we've made. also we will doing AG soon and have already got hops etc & have a bke lying around. my mate would like it to come out like a "best bitter" adnams is his favourite. any idea what type of hops would be best for that???
Re: Adapted kits vs Extract
I just use the cheapest 1-can kit I can get my mitts on - after all the whole idea is to just use the kit as a base, then jazz it up and alter it to your own taste by adding all the extra stuff ie malt/enhancer, hops etc.
Recently I've had goo results using Young's 'definitive bitter'. The lager version is ok also.
