Agreed Lillywhite, the only thing that drew me to the top tap was not to drink the beer earlier but the place I have to keep mine does not alow placing the barrel on anything to get the tap to a reasonable height for dispensing (it's a long story) otherwise like you I don't see the point in them.

To overcome this problem my kegs sit on a long bench which is about 400mm from the floor so not difficult to easily pour a pint.
