i made up the lager kit as per daabs advice last night.
my Hb shop didn't stock saflager but youngs lager yeast, which says on the back that it is a 'genuine botom fermenting lager yeast'.
I sprinkled this onto the wort, last night, at around 25oc, left it half hour , and it looked like it had rehydrated, then i gently stirred in. this morning, nothing happening.
i left it till this evening, then added another sachet sprinkiling on top, and stiiring 1/2 hr after. ( as the sachet only contains 5g, i thought double the ammount would be advisable anyway.
hopefully yeast will kick in in morning, does lager yeast tend to take a while to start?
any ideas for a youngs harvest bitter and lager
right. could you just remind me what ideal temperature for fermenting lager is? also i've read that after first ferment, then you move it to a cooler place for a longer period, is this in the keg or in primary?
also i can get hold of a fridge that i think will fit a fermenting bucket, or keg . when would i use this?
i'm also avidly collecting 500ml PET bottles with a view to bottling the lager
cheers in advance

cheers daab, just thought i'd let you know i followed your advice for the coopers ipa and the scottish heavy, (on page one of this topic) .
they've been in their kegs for a couple of weeks now and already they taste excellent, best i've made so far. it really is so much better using spray malt as opposed to sugar.
