Don't think chocolate stout is necessarily an american thing, Ditch. Youngs make a fine example and they're a British brewery. Superquinn stock this, if you have one near you:

Brian; Bloody decent of ye to suggest it, mate. But, seriously ..... I'm always just too aware that a pint's come from a bottle.

No. What I should do is put one of something different on my monthly order, at least now and then. It's bloody hard though. Because I'm just so extremely happy with what I get, it's against all reason to replace a kit and spend a week suffering something second rate because of it :|

An post would probably charge the same price as a kit to shipo 1 btl anyway....as for getting somthing new int he order ...if it aint broke dont fix it....i like to do a bit of everything...have a coopers pilsner to do next and have 5 gal of pink wine ready to bottle an =d a hopped up cooper ipa...but i always come vback to stout :)

Aha! And what am I at pains to try and get across to so many? Without wishing, or trying, to preach on behalf of Coopers. I reckon they've developed a range of gear there aimed at suiting the original customer base:

Easy to make. Does what it says on the (kit) can. Tolerant of a wider range of temperatures ~ due to a bloody Great strain of dry yeast. Most of all? Tastes great in next to no time

Compare that to the other 'major player' and their customer base .....

No. Don't get me started ....!
