So, who's brewing what over Easter?
Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?
I'll be brewing a Cooper's Dark Ale and a Cooper's Canadian Blonde. Foolishly I agreed to donate 80 pints of bottled homebrew to the village diamond jubilee street party at the beginning of June. If I don't get it on now it won't be ready in time or I'll have to provide some of my other brews that have been maturing for a few months and I don't want to do that.

Tell your guests that you are unwell, and that it wouldn't be wise for them to come overBazC wrote:Well I'm hoping to finally do my first BIAB, I've been meaning to do it for over a week but work has got in the wayMind you we have a house full over Easter so it will be touch and go whether I can commandeer the kitchen for a few hours. Fingers crossed I'll be brewing BrewUK's recipe for Summer Ale.

Seriously though, you don't want to be pushed for time with your first BIAB, allow 5-6 hours to brew.

Thanks for the warning! I won't attempt it unless I'm sure I have most of the day

Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?
I have a few kits to use up, so may give the grain a miss this weekend and brew these up. Will probably have them all done in the time it would take to make 1 All grain brew. Does seem a lot of faff for 10ltr so have doubled up on a couple and never made or tasted any of them so in unknown territory, any tips or pointers gratefully received.
Brewferm Abdij 18ltr
Brewferm Framboos 24ltr
Brupacks Dusseldorf Alt 10ltr
Brupacks Munich Dunkel 10ltr
Brupacks Christmas ale 10ltr
Plan to leave them all until at least autumn or winter.

Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?
not planning on brewing much for a few weeks - I now have a decent stock building up and very few empty bottles...
BIAB:
GW Old Peculier Clone - about 25 bottles left
GW Old Speckled Hen clone - 15-20 bottles
own recipe loopy juice (6% ABV pale ale) - 25-30 bottles left - conditioning
32 bottles of loopy juice recipe brewed to session strength (4% ABV) - just bottled
30+ bottles of Pilsner type lager
Kit beers:
20-25 bottles of Coopers European Lager
4 or 5 bottles of Coopers IPA
plus
1 demijohn of Beaverdale Merlot
1 demijohn of California Conniosseur Semillon/Chardonnay - both about ready for finings
plus
1 Beaverdale Pinot Grigio to start
When I get to 20 empties I'll put another brew on. Undecided as yet, might be some more Coopers Euro, might try for a GW clone brew or maybe rustle up something new

Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?
If the yeast shows up I'm doing a Triple IPA with Chinook and a Wheat Wine
Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?
If my Di & Danny's Golden Ale comes out of the FV this week I'll probably put on a Better Brew IPA. Thinking about starting some wine for the first time too, something quaffable for the summer months, not sure what to do yet.
Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?
Possibly going to do a hobgoblin BIAB but wan to give the wife a bit of a break from the kids and am also going sea fishing with a mate so time may change my plans. Fortunately I have a pretty good stock ATM (20l OSH, 20l Amarillo IPA, 20l citra APA and 20l of coopers sparkling + a summer blonde in the FV) .......blimey, 150-180 pints
Also planning my contribution for my brew-group challenge/experiment. Basically we're doing a theakstons OP but having a change of yeasts, I'm personally going to combine this with my first attempt at yeast harvesting from the bottle and am doing several;
Probably brew 6 gallons, most I'll ferment with nottingham just so I.ve got something drinkable,
The rest will be split between 3 demijohns
1/ fermented with a lambic yeast if I can find a bottle conditioned one in time, named 'old, sour and quite peculiar'
2/ fermented with a hoe garden yeast, named 'peculiar wit'
3/ fermented with a duvel yeast , named 'Hercule poirot'

Hi!
I brewed on monday - a nice Pale ale with 100% Willemette (sort of a Easy Rider at OG1045) but due to a fridge freezer break down I had to sort that out instead of post my brew day.
I probably wont get chance to brew as I'm working Friday & Monday but off Sat & Sun. So Sat is family time and keeping Sunday free...
You never know....
Currently I'm brewing to build up my stocks of beer for my summer drinking as I stop brewing by Mid May as I'd rather lounge about in the garden enjoying the fruits of my labours!

If the weather stays bad, thus giving me an excuse not to finish my garden
I will be brewing;
1) A Coopers Canadian Blonde based hop monster
2) Black Rock Bock
3) Tooheys Old Dark Ale
4) Possibly a couple of Turbo Ciders!

Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?
I'll be brewing up BIAB#2, a bog standard stout on Saturday, and doing a count up of empty bottles to see how much I need to sup to free up enough empties to fill with the stout in a couple of weeks. As I recall I have about 2 dozen bottles of BIAB#1, a pale, and half a dozen of my amended Cooper's Dark still, but I'm not sure exactly how many empties so could be a boozy weekend!
I'm also waiting for 5 dozen empties to be delivered, so when they arrive Thunderbirds will be go big style, as there's no point having that many sat empty!
