I helped a work colleague start up with kits. Got a message from him today saying that he's just tucked into his latest, Fixby Gold, and is loving it.

Warms the cockles of my heart :D

Andy, I can't wait for some of my mates (other than Long Armed Dave) to get involved. Perhaps once they've all had a chance to taste the fruits of our labours at the homebrew fest we're planning on holding in a month or so...

The brewcam is a little boring now , we've reached that stage where not much is happening and the yeast monster head has been replaced with a few floating clumps of bubbles.

The plan is to rip off the cling film on Saturday morning, take a hydrometer reading and then stick the sanitised lid on to the fermenting bin to give it a chance to finish primary in privacy...

We'll then post a vid on the blog showing the whole six days in about two minutes of action.

The next brew should come on line during the middle of next week. Probably the last before summer I should think.

Dave's doing the video now. It will go up in the next hour or two...with a funky soundtrack.

We ripped off the cling film and took a hydrometer reading before putting on the sanitised bucket lid.

A very good 1009 after six days! It can have another couple of days in primary to settle out and maybe drop a point or two, but that's a good FG. Should be about 4.6/4.7% abv. Great.

stonch

you are a trainee brewing legend - the clerkenwell brewery expansion still makes me chuckle after numerous visits.

Keep up the good work :D

Was it Julie Garland or David Hasselhoff? As I heard "the hoff" first time round and felt so dirty I had to shower

Although Julie Garland stout is a class name for it

Please you enjoyed it! Thanks to you all again, if it wasn't for you guys and this site we wouldn't be homebrewing now. :D

Well, we started off with the Hoff but then decided to choose a Judy Garland track to suit the name of the beer!

The Hoff tune we used for the first few hours got to number three in the UK singles chart last year, you might recall, after an internet campaign to encourage people to buy it. Well, it was Dave and his two flatmates who set the website up that did it... although Radio 1 later got involved and people got the impression DJ Scott Mills had been involved from the beginning.

He's a clever lad (Dave, not the Hoff!)

I'm a radio 4 man myself Stonch, I'm not familiar with these modern "Pop DJ's" ha ha ha

All hail the long armed goon though, there's nothing like a techy with time on his hands! Love the name of the brew and particularly how you arrived at the name very clever!

Now thats a good name to call my first brew! Not sure if it's rich, thick, or has a good body, but it's definitely been locked away for 23 hours per day!

Come to think of it my first brew was in secondary longer than Paris will be in the slammer
