Below is Daab's correct adviceI started this kit about 12 days ago, I got it stuck at 1.018 and had a chat with the guy in my local Homebrew shop, he said it would be ok to keg it at this and to add sugar, I did this on Saturday, tried to draw some off for a sample but there isn't any pressure at all (this may be a stupid question!!!) just wondering how long it takes for the pressure to build during secondary??
I have done thisFermentation is stuck, the yeast has gone on strike, adding sugarwill just sweeten your beer at this stage.
You will need to add more yeast and yeast nutrient, this is a common problem with certain kits.
So the kit has kicked off again, On the great advice of Leyland Home Brew centre, I have transferred it out of the keg, back into bucket, added yeast and vit, nice head on it and working away, so next?
Do I wait for it to settle down the take the SG reading again and try again with the keg?
I had already added sugar following some advice?
Cheers Folks
So this is where I'm at...
Adding priming sugars to the keg first (80g of sugar dissolved in a little boiling water then zapped in the microwave to bring back to the boil), will give the yeast something to ferment and pressurize the keg with. Slow fermenting dextrins will also ferment to condition the beer.
DaaB, sorry for the question again, so am I right in assuming I can add a little more sugar to prime the keg? I had already added some following what now seems to be incorrect advice
