update on the brew, not good, went to taste a sample and it had no hop taste, wonder if the extra malt i put in was to much?, also it never had enough bitter taste, so i boiled 25grms of citra, steep for 30 mins, into a m ,bag with 25 grm dry hop, had a sniff of the brew in the bott bucket , thats more like it, mite add a litle hop oil just to get a slight more bitter taste, been in bucket for 3 days so far, another 3 should do it, thats what you get when you mess with a tried and tested recipe i supose, still u got to experiment.

4 or 5 weeks for the initial taste. Then probably longer based on the initial tasting

Bottling mine tonight, if the sample for the gravity test is anything to go by this is going to be great.

Just mini kegged my brew yesterday.

Followed the instructions without modifications, just dry hopped with 35g Cascade for 7 days and the included Simcoe and Summit for 2 days before legging.

OG: 1.060
FG: 1.004!!

In FV for 20 days.

The yeast is clearly high attenuation, as it went through the malt in 2 weeks. Quite a bit of lag time, started bubbling after 30 hours of pitching. Poor flocculation, as I had a lot of floaters after 20 days.

Tasted amazing, lets see if carbonation makes it perfect!

Did 160g batch prime in the bottling bucket. Total of 39 bottles (quite a few 660ml some 500ml).

Looked quite dark/cloudy in the bucket, but from what I've read it'll clear well.

Think this will live up to its name :-)

I minikegged, so primed each keg (5l) with 15 grams of dextrose

I have just done this. Batch primed with 130grams spray malt. Bottled for 2 weeks in warm then another two in fridge...... Loving this brew! Anyone tried their Easter stout?

Hi all

I brewed this as my third ever brew using an additional 1kg of Light DME brewed to about 21 litres. Original Gravity was 1.082  left it in FV for 3 weeks, hopping with supplied hops on day 16. Bottled on Saturday; final gravity was 1.011 which makes for an eye watering 9.3% I think  Bottles put away in a water bath at about 22 degrees in cupboard under the stairs, will move outdoors to cold condition for 2 weeks afterwards. Each bottle primed with 1 level teaspoon of brewing sugar.

Initial thoughts were tasted better than my other 2 brews from sample jar but a but a bit worried about the strong alcohol taste- will report back once I've opened a 4 weeks sample bottle!! Looked very dark going into bottles, will see how it clears:

Tried one of mine at the weekend. (after 2 weeks in the warm for carbing then one week in the cold shed.)

I'm initially little disappointed, it's rather sweet and the alcohol hits hard. I had very high hopes that this would be similar to Punk IPA.
It reminded me a little of Torpedo from Sierra Nevada. Might have to get a bottle and see if I'm remembering right (not had one in ages)

I'm going to leave it another couple of weeks( :^o ) before I sample another and see if it has changed.
